Following a report late last year that fast-food giant Jack in the Box was coming to Northern Utah with six new restaurants, Mountain West Commercial Real Estate has announced in a release that it is involved in finding the company an additional four locations.
The newly announced sites are Kaysville, Orem, Provo and Pleasant Grove. These will add to sites previously announced in Salt Lake City, Layton, Ogden, Logan, Saratoga Springs and South Jordan.
Jack in the Box has three Utah locations in Utah — all in the southern end of the state. The franchised operations are in St. George, Washington and Cedar City. The new stores in the north will be corporate stores, the company said.
Locations for the first four of the new stores have been reported. The Salt Lake City store — near 2100 South and State Street — is nearing completion and set to open in June. The Layton outlet is going to be in the Layton Retail Center and an Ogden store will open soon near Weber State University. In Logan, Jack in the Box was approved to build a restaurant in the area of 1200 South and Highway 89/91. It’s not known when that location will open to the public.
A timeline of when the locations in Utah County, South Jordan and Kaysville will open and where they will be was not disclosed. Sites for the four newly disclosed restaurants are also pending.
“Jack in the Box recognizes their brand is familiar to Utahns,” said Mountain West Commercial Real Estate agent Adam Lewis in the release. “This market is a mix of corporate and franchise locations; Jack in the Box will be constructing drive-through-only locations to complement their prototypical dine-in designs.”
Jack in the Box operates more than 2,000 restaurants in 21 states, mostly on the West Coast. It is primarily known as a burger restaurant, though it is also known for chicken and “tiny tacos.” It also serves breakfasts, including its breakfast burrito, and a late-night menu featuring “Jack’s Munchie Meal.”
Seventy-one-year old Jack in the Box ranks 21st on trade publication QSR’s top-50 list of restaurant chains based on sales, just behind Little Caesars and ahead of Papa Johns.
