Hoping to capitalize on a boom in the nation’s semiconductor industry following the passage of the 2022 CHIPS Act, the University of Utah has launched the Utah Network for Integrated Computing and Semiconductor Research and Education (UNICOS).

The CHIPS Act, passed into law by Congress in August, 2022, provides roughly $280 billion in new funding to boost domestic research and manufacturing of semiconductors
