Midvale-based outdoor specialty retailer Sportsman’s Warehouse has named Joseph P. Schneider as interim CEO. He replaces Jon Baker, who has retired in order to spend more time on personal interests. Schneider will continue in his current position as chair of the board. Barker will be available to advise the company for 30 days following his retirement to aid in an effective and smooth transition, the company said.

Sportsman’s Warehouse also announced the appointment of Martha Bejar as lead independent director and Erica Fortune as an independent director. The board has hired{mprestriction ids="1,3"} Egon Zehnder, a national executive search firm, to conduct a global search for Barker’s successor. The board said it intends to consider all qualified internal and external candidates.

Schneider has served as a member of the board since April 2014 and as the chairman of the board since April 2019. From 2000 until 2012, Schneider served as president and CEO of LaCrosse Footwear Inc., a publicly traded footwear company, until its acquisition by ABC-Mart in August 2012. He received a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Northern Arizona University.{/mprestriction}
