Two Utah business leaders have been named recipients of Ernst & Young’s 2022 Entrepreneur of The Year award for its Mountain West region.

Josh Eckman, founder and CEO of Salt Lake City-based medical device company Carterra; and Bret Rasmussen, founder and CEO of Murray’s KURU Footwear, received the honor.

Thirteen other company heads were named in Ernst & Young’s Mountain West region, which includes Alaska, Colorado, Idaho, Montana, Oregon, Utah, Washington and Wyoming.{mprestriction ids="1,3"}

“Through these awards, we honor the ingenuity and drive of this outstanding group of leaders,” said Shawn Goff, Mountain West program co-director. “They have persevered to make their visions become a reality, and I know they will benefit from being part of our Entrepreneur of the Year community.”

The winners were selected by an independent judging panel comprised of award alumni, leading CEOs, investors and other regional business leaders. Winners were evaluated based on their demonstration of long-term value through entrepreneurial spirit, purpose, growth and impact, among other core contributions and attributes, Goff said. “Since its launch, the program has expanded to recognize business leaders in more than 145 cities in over 60 countries throughout the world who are building a more equitable, sustainable and prosperous world for all.”

Regional award winners will be considered by the national judges for the Entrepreneur of The Year 2022 national awards, which will be presented in November at the EY’s annual Strategic Growth Forum. The Entrepreneur of The Year national award winner will then move on to compete for the EY World Entrepreneur of The Year Award in June 2023.{/mprestriction}
