Murray-based Hamlet Homes has been sold to four of its senior employees and split from its development arm, Hamlet Development. Former owner Michael Brodsky will maintain ownership of the development business under the name Brodsky Built. The homebuilding company will continue under the ownership of Barry Gittleman, Elliott Jenkins, Jon Southern and Philip Mosher.
Hamlet Development, which was created in 1994, has been the development company providing finished lots to Hamlet Homes and other builders across the Wasatch Front. The name change is an effort to eliminate confusion over the continued operations of Hamlet Homes and the development company, Brodsky said.{mprestriction ids="1,3"}
“It’s bittersweet to formally make this name change,” said Brodsky. “We’ve had tremendous success with Hamlet Homes and Hamlet Development over the past three decades. I’m proud of what our team accomplished in the past, and I’m excited to see the continued success of Hamlet Homes under new ownership.”
Brodsky said the development company will continue to take on similar housing and commercial projects, as well as providing finished building lots to builders. After completing voluntary cleanup programs in five different developments over the past 17 years with the Utah Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ), Brodsky will exercise his expertise in brownfields cleanup going forward.
Brodsky founded Hamlet Development in 1994 and developed three neighborhoods in Sandy and Murray that first year. Since then, the company has developed more than 5,100 building lots in 67 different neighborhoods for both Hamlet Homes and other local home builders. Over the years, Brodsky has also built over 120,000 square feet of office buildings in Murray and Park City.{/mprestriction}
