SLC convention hotel on track to open in 2022

One year after breaking ground, Salt Lake’s new convention hotel — the Hyatt Regency Salt Lake City — is on schedule for completion in October 2022, according to a report from Visit Salt Lake, the private nonprofit responsible for promoting the city’ convention industry.

The tower's concrete construction is completed through Level 3 and the podium steel erection begins later this month. Through the first quarter of 2021, the exterior façade installation will begin, escalators on meeting room levels will be hoisted into place and the vertical construction is slated to continue to progress with topping- out of the project to come at the end of this year, the report said.

The 25-floor, 700-room Hyatt Regency Salt Lake City adjoining the Salt Palace Convention Center will offer approximately 60,000 square feet of indoor meeting space, including a 22,915-square-foot grand ballroom and a 14,689-square-foot junior ballroom, as well as 7,413-square feet of outdoor event space. Estimated to cost $377 million, the project is scheduled to be completed and hosting its first guests in the fall of 2022. The Hyatt Regency SLC will have a restaurant on the first floor, a lobby bar and another restaurant on the sixth floor, adjacent to an outdoor amenity area that will include a pool and terrace for events and other activities.
