Eleven companies, organizations and individuals were honored last week by the Salt Lake Chamber at the organization’s 129th annual meeting and awards luncheon.

The state’s largest business association, the chamber has members in all 29 Utah counties and represents more than 8,000 businesses and 500,000 Utah jobs — nearly half of Utah’s workforce.

“Every year it is a real challenge to review nominations and select only a few ‘Chamber Champions’ from the long list of dedicated chamber volunteers and supporters,” said Lane Beattie, the chamber’s president and chief executive officer. “This year’s winners were very deserving and we are so appreciative of the positive impact they bring to Utah’s business community.”
Honored at the event were:

• Chamber Champions: Chris Gamvroulas, Ivory Development; Molly Mazzolini, Infinite Scale; Mayor Ben McAdams, Salt Lake County; and Donnielle Schroeder, Melange.
• Small Business of the Year: Onsite Care.
• Community Partner of the Year: Utah League of Cities & Towns.
• Corporate Partner of the Year: Office Depot Inc.
• President’s Award for Excellence: Bryan Benard, Holland & Hart LLP; Vance Checketts, EMC Corp.; Jeffrey Nelson, Nelson Laboratories Inc.; and Randy Shumway, Cicero Group.

The event’s theme was “Rewind Time,” allowing chamber members to review the previous year and honor those in the community that have showed exemplary support by committing their time and abilities to help further the chamber’s mission and bolster the business community at-large.

Speakers included Beattie; Lori Chillingworth, outgoing chair of the chamber’s Board of Governors and chief credit administrator at Zions Bancorporation; and Keith McMullin, incoming board chair and CEO at Deseret Management Corp.

“Our role as a chamber should always be to bring out and encourage the best from business and government,” McMullin said. “We must continue to build our state as the crossroads of the West and the nation.”

“As we look around the state at all of the important needs that face both our elected officials and the business community, the chamber continues to be committed to engaging businesses on a number of key issues,” Chillingworth said. “We couldn’t do this without individuals like those who have been honored here today.”
