Salt Lake Chamber accredited by its nationwide counterpart

The U.S. Chamber of Commerce, at its board meeting earlier this month, awarded accreditation to the Salt Lake Chamber for its sound policies, effective organizational procedures and positive impact within in the state of Utah, according to a release from the chamber.

“Accreditation validates a chamber as having programs that benefit its local economy and positively influence its community,” said Raymond P. Towle,, U.S. Chamber vice president of federation relations. We applaud the organizations who received accreditation today for advancing the principles of free enterprise.”

There are approximately 7,000 chambers of commerce throughout the country. Of these, only 204 carry an accredited designation from the U.S. Chamber of Commerce. The Salt Lake Chamber is the only chamber of commerce in the state of Utah that is accredited.

To be accredited with five stars, the highest accreditation recognition a chamber of commerce can receive, provides national recognition for the outstanding work that is carried out within our business community. It underscores the effectiveness of our staff, board, volunteers and the chamber family.” 

The U.S. Chamber of Commerce website states the following regarding the accreditation process: “To achieve accreditation, a chamber must demonstrate quality programs, clear organizational procedures, and effective communications by meeting minimum operation and program standards in the areas of governance, program development, government affairs, and technology.”

“This designation speaks volumes about the business community within the state of Utah,” said Heidi Walker, COO of the Salt Lake Chamber.
