Madeleine Black

EDA welcomes new Architectural Designer to team Architecture firm EDA has hired Madeleine Black as an Architectural Designer at their Salt Lake City offices. Madeleine comes to EDA from Seattle where she worked for LMN Architects. Originally from Connecticut, she earned her BA in Urban Design and Architectural Studies from New York University before earning her Master of Architecture from the University of Washington in 2017. “After living on both coasts, I am looking forward to exploring and getting to know the Mountain West,” said Black. “I am excited to join the EDA team and contribute to the design community here, particularly in the area of sustainable design.” While at LMN, Black was engaged on projects at higher education campuses including the University of Cincinnati in Ohio and a winning design competition for a project at the University of California at Berkeley. She also championed a graphic storytelling initiative, explaining it as “a graphic language to enhance project presentations and competitions." For her UW graduate thesis, which received an AIA Honorable Mention, Black designed a project that focused on water restoration in Mexico City entitled, ‘Revenge of the Lake.’ Black and her partner, Chris, along with their pup, Maeby, are in the process of renovating a home east of downtown Salt Lake City. Black enjoys running and knitting and is looking forward to hitting the ski slopes this winter. About EDA At EDA, we believe architecture is the most powerful design form in transforming people’s lives and our environment. Sixty years ago, our founders introduced architectural modernism to Salt Lake City, Utah, establishing a practice of progressive design that continues to this day. Rooted in the unique culture, climate and geography of the Salt Lake region, this ethos drives a design process uniquely suited to the mountains, valleys, and deserts of the Intermountain West. EDA and its regionally relevant design philosophy aims to do more than simply make good buildings, but to create places that engage and inspire our community. Dynamic and professional, our staff includes 8 licensed architects, 6 interior designers and 6 architectural design staff, including 7 LEED Accredited Professionals. Each brings extensive experience to every EDA project, providing clients with a team that can guide all aspects of architectural design. Visit www.edaarch.com to learn more about our work.
