Nicholas Gochnour

EDA converts into new member of its architectural staff. Having completed a four-month internship at the firm, Nicholas Gochnour joined the Salt Lake City-based architecture and design firm EDA as an Architectural Designer in December. “Nick impressed us during his internship, and now with his graduation requirements completed, he joins the EDA team on a permanent basis,” said EDA Principal Thomas Brennan. “We’re pleased to have Nick bring his enthusiasm and dedication to EDA.” Gochnour earned his Master of Architecture I degree from the Southern California Institute of Architecture (SCI-Arc) in September of this year. While at SCI-Arc he exhibited at several design competitions including the 2019-20 Sci-Arc Spring Show and the 2021 Seoul Biennale of Architecture. His Masters’ thesis exploring issues related to contaminated landscapes in the west received a merit award from the school. “I’m looking forward to continuing my work with EDA,” said Gochnour about accepting the position. “I feel I gained valuable experience during my internship and am excited to put my skills to work on future projects.” During his internship, Gochnour contributed to EDA’s design work in Utah for the Harmon Theater in West Valley City and the Hall residence in Ogden as well as the Sweetwater Public Works building in Wyoming. He earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Architectural Studies and Bachelor of Arts degree in International Studies with a minor in German from the University of Utah. While attending the U of U Nicholas participated in the College of Architecture’s study abroad program based in Siena Italy. Born in Minnesota, Gochnour grew up in Panguitch and Ogden where he ultimately attended, and graduated from Ogden High School. “I didn’t know it then but my first exposure to EDA was when I was going to Ogden High during the renovation and expansion EDA designed,” said Gochnour.
