Pleasant Grove-based doTerra, a multi-level marketing company that sells essential oils and other related products, is expecting 30,000 “wellness advocates” to descend on Salt Lake City this week for the company’s annual convention.

Touted as the most highly attended corporate convention in Utah history, the meetings will convene Sept. 14-17 at the Vivint Smart Home Arena and Salt Palace Convention Center in downtown Salt Lake City. Organizers expect their direct-sales distributors, referred to by doTerra as wellness advocates, to spend more than $28 million while in town.

Convention goers will attend the educational general session in one of the two venues with presenters moving between locations. In addition to the convention activities, attendees will host additional meetings, parties and dinners at various locations throughout the city.

“Salt Lake continues to be a fantastic destination for hosting our convention and we are pleased to be in a position to significantly contribute to the local economy,” said David Stirling, doTerra founder and CEO. “We recall our first convention, just eight years ago, which had 350 attendees. We are grateful that year over year, our conference continues to grow as the number of enthusiastic doTerra wellness advocates exponentially increases.”

“Our state relies on outstanding companies such as doTerra for fueling our economy by hosting their meetings and conventions here in Salt Lake,” said Salt Lake County Mayor Ben McAdams. “We appreciate doTerra for exposing our beautiful state to the tens of thousands coming here for their convention. We hope they all receive a warm welcome and continue to return.”

At the convention, doTerra leaders will be making announcements about their Co-Impact Sourcing initiative, which partners with growers worldwide; new products; their global botanical network; and scientific and medical collaborations for the development of their essential oil product line.
